This is not the first blog that I have. It is, however, the first blog that is public. The ironic thing is that I have been “live” for just about a week, if that much, and already have had two comments.

Both spam.

On my private blogs I never worry about spam, as people only know about the blog if I have told them about it. And even here the comments were never shown in public, as I have all comments routed through an “approval” process that will allow me to give it all of the attention that it deserves.

Can you imagine what could be accomplished if the people that spend their hours and days figuring out new ways to spam blogs and forums and whatnot actually tried to accomplish something useful? A cure for cancer, perhaps? A car that gets 200 miles to the gallon? A manned Mars colony? The mind boggles.

But no, instead they spend their time writing nasty code. And the only benefit to them, if any, is a “back link” from my site back to theirs because of their spam links. Oh, well, everyone needs a hobby.
