The long-awaited update to phpBB2 went to Beta status last weekend. Then again, if you are an active phpBB person you probably don’t need to get that news via my blog. But what does it all mean?

It means that we’re that much closer to a major overhaul of the phpBB code. I will be honest, I have yet to look at a single line of code. I’ve spent a grand total of about twenty minutes at area51 using the new code. So I’m not the best person to ask specific questions at this moment.

What I intend to do over the next few months, though, is install a copy of phpBB3 aka Olympus here on the doctor board and start going through the code.
