MMW – Round 2
phpBB has started MMW or MODdings Most Wanted Round 2 today. Or maybe yesterday. Whatever, I just saw it this morning.
Like an idiot, I’ve not only entered my name for one of the requested MODs (a simple one, to be sure) but I’ve added my name as a potential participant in a very LARGE MOD… one that has been developed in fits and starts since about 2003. And never been delivered.
Now all I have to do is clone myself a few times (hopefully with better results than Michael Keaton had) and I’ll have time to do all of this. Plus my own phpBB projects. Plus my own life.
At least the MOD I signed my name to is one that I’ve already written most of the code for, as I use it on my biggest board already. So what I have left to do is allow for negative ratings and provide an admin panel interface to set up the ratings break outs and provide an admin/moderator interface to moderate the ratings and… geez, I thought this was going to be simple?

Topic points is now a solid “beta” and the feature set is fairly well defined. After some more testing, it will be time for a release version and submission to the MOD-DB. Why did it take so long? Good question.
I do this for fun, in my spare time. Along the way other topics tweak my interest and current projects are put on hold for a while. But this one will be done. Hopefully before the end of the year (2006) but if not, then the end of the next year.
