I checked one of the links, and it goes to a vBulletin 3.x board. The spammer has created a profile that is viewable by guests, and used tinyurl to create a number of spam-related links. So the theory is, I guess, they get a link from my blog to the compromised vB board, and from there get links to their own spam sites.

Or they would, if I wasn't blocking / deleting them as they come in.

The question is, have they solved the Checkbox Challenge with an automated system? Or are they manual spammers? Further investigation is required...

Every one of these posts had a gmail address. I am wondering now if "linked in" has been compromised, and people are setting up spam pages there and then linking to them.

What a pain.
